But during a cost of living crisis and with affordable and accessible childcare still out of reach for many, the role of the modern grandparent has taken on even greater significance. We discuss what modern grandparenting looks like as well as the role it now plays in keeping families and our economy running.
‘Besotted but exhausted’ is how Dr Jenna Price describes her latest career as a grandparent carer of small children, who also live with her in a multigenerational household. Justin Bott from Services Australia also joins us to talk about what support and assistance is available for older people who are full-time child carers.
