This 2023 State of the Older Nation research was commissioned by the Federation of nine Councils on the Ageing (COTA) across Australia – including all eight COTA state and territory organisations and COTA Australia – to understand the views, life experiences and needs of Australians aged 50+.
SEC Newgate Research conducted a nationally-representative online survey with a robust sample of n=2,750 Australians aged 50 and over, with quotas set for state and territory, metropolitan and regional areas, gender and age.
Participants were surveyed in November and December 2022 however this report has been released in 2023 and will be referred to as such throughout this report. This third wave follows surveys conducted in 2021 and 2018.
