In celebration of the NSW Seniors Festival and the theme Time to Shine, we were pleased to present a series of in-person events in conjunction with the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts (SMSA).

We were delighted to host the NSW Minister for Seniors, Jodie Harrison MP, who launched the event series on March 6, with the first topic featuring the importance of planning for a fulfilling and meaningful retirement. The conversation included insights from research, the benefits of a purposeful approach, and effective strategies and resources for planning or reassessing your retirement.

Featuring a keynote presentation from Macquarie University’s Professor Joanne Earl, and panel guests, the Blacktown and Australian Bhutanese community leader, Om Dhungel together with educator and speaker on change leadership and workplace mental health, Anne Riches AM. Other morning and afternoon events included a range of inspiring talks and Q&A sessions, including Shining a Light on Ageism: Uncovering Experiences and Strengths Across Generations and Simple Tips for Navigating the Health System. Guests included the Age Discrimination Commissioner, Robert Fitzgerald AM, writer and commentator Jane Caro AM, and the CEO of Relationships Australia NSW, Elisabeth Shaw.

We also enjoyed meeting many of our members and stakeholders at the NSW Senior’s Expo on March 12 and 13. Click here to see photos of the event.
